Basque Classics

In partnership with KNCJ and the Basque National Orchestra, the University of Nevada, Reno’s Center for Basque Studies has created a monthly, exclusive Basque classical music series titled “Basque Classics,” which will air Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Pacific time as part of “KNCJ Wednesday Evening Classics.” This series, organized by Dr. Xabier Irujo and Beñat Olano of the Center for Basque Studies and KNCJ’s Chris Morrison, will feature performances by some of the most distinguished musicians in Basque musical history. The program will highlight the entire history of Basque classical music, from the Middle Ages to the present day. This is the first ever radio program devoted to Basque classical music in the United States. Most of the pieces that will be broadcast are new to the American public.
